CAPSTONE for MBA, MA Economics, MS Acct, MS Tax, & MSIS
CAPSTONE BUAD591
(MBA only)
Enrollment in Buad 591, Business Strategy Capstone is restricted to students who meet the prerequisites. Prerequisite: BUAD591 must be taken in your last semester and you must be within 6 units of completing your entire study plan (this includes BUAD591). Students wishing to enroll in this course must have prior approval from the Graduate Advisor and submit a Graduate Information Record form. Be advised that not all graduate courses are offered during the summer session so you should not plan your graduation around summer classes. Elective Courses are not normally offered in the summer.
The capstone course, Buad 591, is a project course and must be completed with a "B" or better. You will be divided into groups and assigned to a company in Orange County. Your group will serve as a consulting team for the company.
Enrollment Requirements:
- Buad 591 is to be taken in your last semester.
- Buad 591 is taken when you are within 6 units of completing your entire advising worksheet and classified. If you do not meet the prerequisites please do not send a request to reserve as seat as no exceptions will be granted.
- Buad 591 requires authorization prior to enrolling in the course. To obtain authorization and reserve a seat you must send an email to Ms. Shahbazian fshahbazian@fullerton.edu by the reservation deadlines below. Requests will not be accepted any earlier.
Reservation Deadlines:
- Spring: To reserve a seat for BUAD591email between: Aug 29 - Sept 9
- Summer: To reserve a seat for BUAD591email between: Jan 31 - Feb11
- Fall: To reserve a seat for BUAD591email between: May 9 - May 19
To assist Mihaylo College in determining enrollment needs it is important that you send a request during the dates indicated above. Requests for enrollment after the dates above may not be accommodated.
Notification of Enrollment Authorization
- You will be notified by email one week prior to early registration with authorization of enrollment.
- If you are not eligible to enroll in BUAD591 you will be notified by email one week prior to early registration if not sooner.
Additional Graduation Requirements:
While enrolled in BUAD591 all graduating students must complete an online "Exit Survey" and the "Graduate Information Record” (GIR) form. This GIR includes demographic, programmatic, employment, and other information vital to Mihaylo’s statistical records. This information will be used to provide statistical support for Mihaylo College of Business and Economics through rankings, AACSB accreditation, diversity, and overall data gathering. Please note that all information of an individual nature will be kept confidential. Our purpose is to create statistical averages and means, not individual metrics. The "Exit Survey" includes programmatic satisfaction information. This information will be used to improve the program and is anonymous.

CAPSTONE ACCT 597
(MS Accountancy & MS Taxation only)
The capstone course, ACCT 597, is a project-based course. All MS Accountancy and MS Taxation candidates must participate in this course. To ensure all graduating students are able to enroll in this course the following procedures must be followed:
- ACCT 597 requires authorization prior to enrolling in
the course.
- 2 - 3 weeks prior to registration students should choose a topic they would like to research and find an Accounting faculty member who has expertise in that area to work with. If you run into any difficulty please contact the Department Chair of Accounting for assistance.
- Students must contact the Department of Accounting, one week prior to your scheduled registration date, for a permit to register for the course. Please email the department at accountingdept@fullerton.edu
- In your email be sure to include your name, CWID#, course section and schedule number.
- In addition, to working with a faculty member on your research topic you will also spend time in class with an assigned faculty member on how to write your project paper and much more.
- Registration
- Once you receive the permit to register be sure to go online to "New Titan Online" and add the course during your assigned registration period.
- ACCT 597 must be completed with a “B” or better.
- ACCT 597 is not open to students on academic probation

Exit Option
(MA Economics)
MA Economics students may choose from two exit options. Students may opt to take a comprehensive exam or complete a Thesis by enrolling in Econ598.
Comprehensive Exam
Within the first week of your final semester schedule an appointment with the Concentration Exploration Advisor to discuss the comprehensive exam. The comprehensive exam is take post final exams of your final semester.
Thesis
After you second semester in the program and the completion of Econ502 and Econ503 schedule an appointment with your Concentration Exploration Advisor. Prior to the meeting you will need to decide on your proposal topic, bring an outline of your plan that includes your objectives, the questions, and problem you wish to research. In your last semester you will be required to enroll in Econ598.

CAPSTONE ISDS577
(MS Information Systems only)
The capstone course, ISDS577, is a project-based course. All MS Information Systems candidates must participate in this course. This course integrates the information systems development concepts of information systems, project management, analysis, design, and implementation with telecommunications, database design, programming, testing, and system integration issues.
To ensure all graduating students are able to enroll in this course the following prerequisites must be met:
- ISDS577 should be taken in your last semester or within completion of at least seven ISDS courses in the program.

CAPSTONE ISDS576
(MS Information Systems: Emphasis: Decision Sciences only)
The capstone course, ISDS576, is a project-based course. All MS Information Systems with an emphasis in Decision Sciences candidates must participate in this course. This course integrates theory and application of modeling and simulation methodology.
To ensure all graduating students are able to enroll in this course the following prerequisites must be met:
- ISDS576 should be taken in your last semester or within completion of at least seven ISDS courses in the program.
