Graduate Admissions Information - Fullerton Campus

Whatever your academic and professional background, we want to be sure that you are adequately prepared for your MBA experience with the College of Business & Economics at Cal State Fullerton. The MBA program is competitive and admission into the program is based on the holistic assessment of each candidate's academic and personal/professional background.

In evaluating applications, the Admissions Committee considers not only the College's graduate programs admissions criteria, but also adheres to basic standards and policies set by the University. To apply for a graduate program at the Fullerton Campus in the College of Business and Economics you must submit the following :

  • Graduate Application through CSU Mentor and $55 application fee.
    Prior to submitting your documents below please submit your Graduate Application
  • Graduate Admissions Check List Sheet (domestic students only).
  • Graduate Admissions Check List Sheet (International students only).
  • CBE Background Sheet and Statement of Purpose.
  • Official transcripts from all higher education institutions that you attended, including documentation of your undergraduate degree. All applicants must have been in good standing at their last college attended.
  • Copy of your unofficial GMAT score.
  • Official GMAT scores (Graduate Management Assessment Test) sent directly to the University from ETS.
  • Up to three letters of recommendation from employers or professors who are familiar with your capabilities in relation to a graduate program.

International Students - Besides the online admission application and College of Business and Economics requirements, you need to submit the following supplemental documents:

  • Translated copies of transcripts from any previous colleges and/or universities that you have attended.
  • TOEFL scores if you do not possess a bachelor’s degree from a post-secondary institution where English is the principle language of instruction.
  • A financial affidavit of support, signed by your financial sponsor, e.g. yourself, your parent etc.
  • A bank statement from your financial sponsor's bank (dated within the last year), showing funding for at least $25,000.
  • A copy of your current I-20 and/or I-94, if you are currently in the United States.

Important dates and deadlines:
New students are admitted to the main campus programs in both the fall and spring semesters. It is highly recommended to file during the early filing periods. Programs often reach capacity prior to the end of the application filing period. For full consideration, all forms and supporting documents must be submitted to the CBE by their respective filing deadlines.

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT):
All applicants are required to take the GMAT and must have their official GMAT score reports sent directly to CSUF from Educational Testing Service (ETS). The Institutional Code for CSUF is dependant on the program you are applying to. Please contact ETS for the appropriate code. The GMAT is administered year round at various testing centers throughout the world. For more information about the GMAT or to register, contact GMAT directly at 703-749-0131 or visit www.mba.com.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
All applicants required to take the TOEFL must have their official TOEFL score reports send directly to CSUF from Educational Testing Service (ETS). A minimum score of 570 (paper), 230 (computer based), or 88 (iBT) is required for admission into the program.  The TOEFL code for CSUF is 4589. The TOEFL is administered year round at various testing centers throughout the world. Other College-wide Requirements
Applicants must meet proficiency standards in calculus, statistics, and computer programming, equivalent to passing MATH 135 Business Calculus, ISDS361A Statistical Analysis, and ISDS 265 Introduction to Computing and Application Software with grades of a "C" or better.

Applicants who do not score in the top 50% on the verbal, analytical, and quantitative sections of the GMAT are required to complete a department approved course. Advanced degrees, the GRE, or other entrance examinations may not be substituted for the GMAT.


Applying to the Graduate Program

Once you have completed all the admission requirements, applying to the College's graduate programs requires two steps:

Step 1:
Domestic Applicants need to submit a CSU Application for Graduate Education along with an application fee of $55 to California State University. You may apply online at www.csumentor.edu. Your application will not be processed until you pay the application fee.

International Applicants need to submit a CSU Application for Graduate Education along with an application fee of $55 to California State University. You may apply online at www.csumentor.edu. You must also submit the CSU required supplemental materials. It is also recommended that international students contact International Education & Exchange as soon as possible for the most recent information regarding I-20 requirements. Step 2:
Download and complete the College of Business & Economics graduate programs Checklist. Your completed packet should include the items listed on the Admissionswebpage. Once you've completed the checklist, mail it with your completed application packet and supporting documentation directly to:

INCOMPLETE PACKETS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED

Application Deadlines:
The College strongly encourages you to apply as soon as possible. Graduate programs often reach maximum capacity prior to the end of the application period.

Please plan accordingly and submit your completed application materials prior to the general filing period deadlines. Applicants who have not been granted an admission decision by the appropriate deadline date may NOT be reviewed for admission into the next semester. Students must reapply if their application is not processed for the semester they applied to.

Application Status:
Please note that, once all documents are received, it takes a minimum of two months to process applications. If you would like to check the status of your application, you may email kcarterscales@fullerton.edu. Please include the following in your email:

  • Your first and last name used on all campus communication
  • Campus Wide ID # (CWID)
  • Name of program applied to
