Additional information

Applications are accepted starting August 1st for the following spring semester and starting October 1st for the following fall semester. Early application allows time for receipt of transcripts and evaluation of undergraduate work; however, applications should not be sent before the above dates. Applications will be accepted as long as possible; however, to allow proper evaluation, the university does stop accepting applications prior to the start of each semester.

If applications are closed for the M.A. in Economics for the semester in which you wish to enroll, you may apply for admission as a post baccalaureate unclassified student with no major and no degree objective. Admission as a post baccalaureate unclassified student does not constitute admission to the Economics program, nor does it guarantee future admission. However, it does enable such students to take undergraduate courses which will fulfill departmental admission requirements. Selected graduate courses may also be taken with the consent of the graduate adviser. Students wishing to apply for admission to the M.A. in Economics for the following semester must file a change of objective form with Admissions and Records.

Application Status

The admissions office will verify the authenticity of your transcripts, your academic status at your previous academic institutions, and check whether you satisfy the CSUF minimum GPA requirement (2.5 in last 60 semester units or last 90 quarter units). Your file will then be transferred to the economics department for further review. This process takes time.

The admissions office will send you your CSUF ID and a PIN number. To check your status, please email
