In the Classroom & Beyond :

Susan Cadwallader

“Astutely monitoring and integrating current marketplace trends into our curriculum is an ongoing process at Mihaylo College. This is achieved with steady input from our advisory board membership – a stellar roster of business leaders – and the forward-thinking research of our faculty within their various industries.

Our new building, Mihaylo Hall, was designed with suggestions from all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff and our advisory boards. The resulting facility provides unprecedented social, meeting, study, research and classroom space with a state-of-the-art technical infrastructure. During their last visit, the AACSB evaluation team, which awards business schools with accreditation, commented on how effectively we use technology in the classroom.

As an example of nimbly staying ahead of industry demands, we created a joint B.A. degree in accounting and finance because our advisors indicated this was a specialty graduates need. We also changed our entertainment and tourism concentration to focus on management issues within that sector. The addition of a community engagement component to our business-writing, and more recently, marketing courses has been particularly popular. These, and many other changes in our academic offerings, allow our students to enter and advance their career with the knowledge they need.” Anil Puri, dean, Mihaylo College of Business and Economics
