Paul F. Folino

Mr. Folino is a "Washingtonian" born on January 23, 1945. Reared in Seattle, Washington, he attended Central Washington State University where he majored in social sciences and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation, he immediately enrolled at Seattle University where he received his Masters of Business Administration degree while working full time at Boeing Company in Materials Management.

In 1970, Mr. Folino joined the Seattle branch of Xerox Corporation where he held various sales positions including National Accounts Manager and Branch Sales Manager. Those assignments were followed by successive promotions to Regional Sales Planning Manager, District Sales Manager and finally, Region General Manager. Mr. Folino was part of the original Xerox team that launched Ethernet networking products into the marketplace.

In 1984, Mr. Folino joined Eczel Corporation as Vice President and General Manager and was later promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer by 1986. Eczel was a subsidiary of Crown Zellerbach, a Fortune 500 company, and a national distributor of microcomputers, supplies, accessories and peripherals. Eczel was eventually acquired by Sir James Goldsmith after a corporate takeover of Crown Zellerbach in 1986 and eventually sold to a third party.

In late 1987, Mr. Folino left the technology arena for two years before getting back into the sector when he joined the Thomas-Conrad Corporation in 1990 as Managing Director of their international business. Thomas-Conrad was a privately held manufacturer of network interface products including offerings in the FDDI, Token Ring and Ethernet markets. After a very short time, Paul was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer of the company which experienced growth from $18 million to nearly $60 million during his tenure and recognition from "INC. Magazine" as one of the fastest growing privately held corporations in America.

Mr. Folino presently serves as Executive Chairman of Emulex Corporation after joining the company as President and Chief Executive Officer in May 1993. In this role, Mr. Folino serves as the chief executive officer of the NYSE publicly traded corporation with a market capitalization of over $1.5 billion and over 83 million shares outstanding. Emulex is the industry's preeminent source for a broad range of advanced storage networking infrastructure solutions spanning host bus adapters, embedded storage switches, I/O controllers and SAN Storage Switches. Paul was recognized as the 1999 Orange County Co-Entrepreneur of the Year for technology as well as Ernst & Young’s 2000 Orange County Director of the Year for high growth technology.

Mr. Folino lives in Southern California with his wife, Daranne, and daughter, Courtney, and sits on several non-profit boards including the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Chapman University and the New Majority, as well as the Commercial Bank of California and Microsemi Corporation in the corporate sector.

Paul Folino is committed to higher education through membership on the Dean’s Advisory Board in the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Fullerton.”
