The Real Estate & Land Use Institute (RELUI) provides scholarships for real estate students and also offers access to scholarships offered by select organizations:
The California State University's Real Estate Scholarship and Internship Grant (RESIG) program provides financial assistance for qualified economically disadvantaged students enrolled in real estate courses and other activities in real estate at campuses in the California State University (CSU) system.
The California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.) Scholarship Foundation was established in 1948. The C.A.R. Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships three times a year in the Winter, Spring and Fall of each year to students enrolled at a California College or University for professions which are centered on, or support a career in real estate transactional activity.
The Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) awards scholarships on an annual basis to promising students studying real estate at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Retail & Commercial Real Estate:
The Schurgin Family Foundation Scholarship was established in 2008 to provide tuition assistance to undergraduate students who are studying retail real estate or a related field.
The Education Foundation of the CCIM Institute has been granting scholarships to deserving students and real estate professionals since 1988. Scholarship programs are designed to encourage and assist professionals pursuing the CCIM designation and to promote high educational standards.
This scholarship is named in honor of George M. Brooker, CPM. The purpose of the scholarship is to attract young people from underrepresented populations into the real estate management business and to create a more diverse workforce.
Women Interested in Commercial Real Estate:
The CREW Network Scholarship program is for women pursuing an education that will lead to a career in the commercial real estate industry, and offers an internship in brokerage to encourage women to consider this career choice. Apply here
CSU Real Estate Scholarship and Internship Grant Program
Amount: Varies, typically $1,000 - $2,000
This scholarship is funded by the State of California’s Real Estate Scholarship and Internship Grant (“RESIG”) endowment to help support students considering a career in real estate. Under the Internship option, students may receive an award for an unpaid internship in which they are participating.
This scholarship is open to all majors with an interest in real estate, broadly defined. Students must have completed, or be currently enrolled, in at least one course in real estate, broadly defined (e.g. urban planning, urban economics, geographic information systems, and property tax classes all qualify, in addition to the typical business school real estate curriculum).
2.5 GPA (undergraduate) or 3.0 GPA (graduate students) ♦ Undergraduate or graduate status ♦ Enrolled in at least 6 units ♦ Financial need screening will be conducted as part of the application review process.
To apply for the RESIG scholarship, students should complete the Applicant Information form and email the completed form to RESIG@share.calstate.edu. Note that students must provide the name of a faculty member who can verify course of study and career interests but the faculty member does not have to write a letter of recommendation.
